Profusion Zinnia. So, while my regular tall zinnia are mostly done for the season, these profusion zinnia are still going strong. Profusion Zinnia are a short, mounding type plant that spread out nicely. Can either be used in containers or planted directly in the ground. Love these zinnia!

Dwarf Zinnias. This past weekend I pulled up all my dwarf zinnias. So sad to see them go. However, I picked one final bouquet. Look at all the beautiful colors.

French Marigolds. These are my favorite marigolds.

French Marigolds. These are my favorite marigolds. Not only do they continue to thrive as the weather turns cool, they are the easiest plant from which to save seeds. Just let the flower head dry completely on the plant, then pull open. One flower head will give you all the seeds you need for the next season.

Bachelor Button, also known as Cornflower. This is one of the most unruly annual flowers in my garden. It grows about 4 feet tall but has a hard time supporting its weight and so I stake. Bachelor Buttons make great pressed flowers and attract lots of pollinators. Still doing great in late September.

Rainbow Swiss Chard. While I don’t eat a lot of Swiss chard, it is a pretty addition to the vegetable garden. As the weather turns cooler it thrives. Look at the beautiful red, yellow, and white stems.

Pink Flamingo Celosia. This is a lovely annual flower that grows between 5-6 feet tall. The deer love this flower and so I plant in my enclosed vegetable garden. Besides the fact that this plant is beautiful, it’s super easy to collect seeds. The seeds are inside the pink plume. One plume will give you enough seeds for next season. If you leave the plant in your garden, the seeds will disperse and you will have plants next season without doing anything! 😊

Pressed flower art ‘work in process’. So pretty. I use painters tape on the corners to keep the art centered. Flowers include Delphinium, hydrangeas, lavender, baby breath, and fern.

My latest creation using flowers that I grew, pressed, and made into art. This is a midnight garden. The flowers are so pretty against the black watercolor paper. Will be available for purchase in my ESTY store gardening4joy.

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum) a white

Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare var. azoricum) a white bulb with green stalks and dill-like leaves. It smells like licorice. However, when cooked it has a sweet and savory flavor. Love it! Fennel is a cool season vegetable. Just harvested the ones I grew here in Florida. I look forward to growing in NJ in the spring. 🙂

One of the nice things about a pressed flower card is that it can be framed and become a permanent piece of art in your home. This is a 5x7 real pressed flower card placed in an 8x11 inch frame matted to 5x7.

One new flower I added to my garden this past summer is delphinium. While I have been adding delphinium to my pressed flower art, in this piece, delphinium is the focus with both blue and purple delphinium. Also included are reddish bachelor button and yellow coreopsis. Love the hydrangea butterfly 🦋
